Swan ecolabel for 17 Tammermatic car wash products

For a car maintenance product to be stamped with the Swan label, the product must fulfil strict requirements that concern the chemical composition of the product, packaging, information delivered to the user and the end result. The efficiency requirements ensure that the product is not only environmentally friendlier than other products but is also tested for efficiency.

A car product with the Swan label is manufactured using raw materials that have as little impact on the environment as possible. The organic compounds, with a few exceptions, must degrade rapidly in nature both under aerobic and non-aerobic conditions. The use of several substances, such as halogen or aromatic organic compounds, is completely forbidden. The usage of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and colorants is limited.

The Swan label also establishes requirements on the user safety aspects to car maintenance products. For instance, the so-called CMR substances (Carcinogenic, Mutagenic, and Reprotoxic substances), i.e. substances causing cancer, damaging genome or hazardous for reproduction, are not allowed in the products at all.
